I have no new wisdom yet. After all, I’ve been forty for only a few days. What I do have is immense gratitude for my family and friends—for all the effort and intention and generosity they put into celebrating my birthday this year. It was totally unexpected but also totally wonderful. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so special.
All I have to offer today are two links! The first is a link to the essay I wrote that won Terrain.org’s 14th Annual Contest in Creative Nonfiction. The second link is to an event Terrain is hosting where the contest winners and one of the judges will be doing an online reading.

That’s it for now. Hopefully soon I’ll have some time to sit down and reflect and write about thoughts on turning 40 and goals I have for this year, and this new decade. As my friend Emily so kindly reminded me: it’s a “true gift to get to experience a new decade of life.”
